The Helps Ministry
WHAT WE DO
The Helps Ministry prepares the platform for the Sunday Service and any other special conventions. In 1 Corinthians 12:28, there is mention that God has set some in the church for different functions and helps and administration is one of them.
1 Corinthians 12:28:
28 So God has appointed some in the church [[a]for His own use]: first apostles (special messengers); second prophets (inspired preachers and expounders); third teachers; then wonder-workers; then those with ability to heal the sick; helpers; administrators; [speakers in] different (unknown) tongues.
The Helps ministry is a very important ministry and when it serves its function well, will help the church to establish the following:
- Order in the service
- Allow the Holy Spirit to have freedom in the service
- Reverence for the Holy Spirit
With these things assured in the service, the body of Christ will be enabled to grow and flow with the gifts of the Holy Spirit and allow the power of God to flow like never before. At FBCS the Helps ministry is also trained especially in the area of the "Spirit of Excellence". The Helps ministry aspire to assist individuals to grow in the Lord in the area of personal excellence. By allowing ourselves to be an instrument of the Lord and to serve in the church, we are giving God the opportunity to mould and shape us to be better servants. Helps ministry workers must also be willing to submit to authority and be faithful servants. Sometimes this service puts them in situations that force them to sacrifice their own desires and pleasures and serve the greater body of believers.
1 Corinthians 16:15-18:
15 You know that Stephanas and his household were the first of the harvest of believers in Greece,[a] and they are spending their lives in service to God's people. I urge you, dear brothers and sisters,[b] 16 to submit to them and others like them who serve with such devotion. 17 I am very glad that Stephanas, Fortunatus, and Achaicus have come here. They have been providing the help you weren't here to give me. 18 They have been a wonderful encouragement to me, as they have been to you. You must show your appreciation to all who serve so well.
